I am so excited and happy to see that my adoption process wont take a very long time as I thought. I will go to my first session on February 25!!!! I am sooooooo excited. There's 7 Saturday classes and one orientation. I cannot wait. I have a family in mind and I pray to God I will be blessed with...

What to write? Need help ASAP
February 22, 2012, 11:41 pm
I feel so flummoxed that I have writer's block. I am a licensed foster parent but also the kids' "aunt" and am currently seen by DCF in this situation as a concerned family member. Ugh. Keep the suggestions coming. I can't even think how to phrase the facts! Do I just list one quote...

Autism
February 22, 2012, 10:35 pm
First off I wanted to send (((Hugs))). Getting a diagnosis can be both a relief and incite a feeling of terror. My oldest was diagnosed with Asperger's at the age of 13. Quite late in the game but that was back when they first started looking at Autism as a spectrum disorder instead of a hard...
help, need advice ASAP!!!

First, to me, the 30-60 minutes late, consistently, does need to be reported directly to his supervisor/ the owner of the business he works for. They provide a service under contract, they need to know if one of their employees is that consistently off the mark. Second, they need to be told if...

Q's for possible adoptive parents for your FC
February 22, 2012, 10:18 pm
Not the person you're asking, but... children's needs and personalities differ greatly, and families' personalities, habits, and lifestyles differ greatly. Families are not always a good fit for every child, and vice versa. For a very hyper child, a family that loves to bike, hike, camp, garden,...
Adoption Tax Credit?
February 22, 2012, 9:50 pm
We mailed ours on Jan. 17, it was signed for on Jan. 20. We didn't show up on WMR for almost 4 weeks. We finally showed up about a week and a half ago with a "by March 20" date. Then, this past Sunday it updated and said "by February 28". I'm praying we get another update...
Child not wanting to go home?
February 22, 2012, 9:41 pm
You all kind of have the answer I was expecting. What is interesting is the CW told me completely different, she said of course she would have a say and that her opinion would be completely considered. @Crazy_Woman: I have never heard her say it to her parents (who is my sister) I think she has a...

Question for those ultra savvy FB folks.
February 22, 2012, 9:10 pm
Do you think she is doing it on a smart phone or computer? If it is home computer that you own, you can put a keystroker program on there and she'd never know. In fact, some smart parents created one that is a jump drive. Just plug it in and it stealthly installs the software and starts working. I...
How does it all work?
February 22, 2012, 9:03 pm
I dont know how it works for others but here the state pays X amount of dollars per day. Every 2 weeks we call an automated phone system and report the number of days we've had our FS (nephew). The state direct deposits the funds into our bank account every 2 weeks. That money is to cover...

Yes, I also believe six is the limit here in CA.
When do you ask for a special board rate?
February 22, 2012, 8:10 pm
My current FS came to me with diagnoses such as Autism, Seizures, T-Cell Lymphoma, Thalassemia, tracheo-malacia, severe reflux/Gerd and asthma requiring a nebulizer. He was on 7 medications and was just weened of an anti-convulsant. Now granted, they were suspicious of mom's having MBP at the...
Incarcerated Parents and RU
February 22, 2012, 7:24 pm
It also depends on the age of the child. Say, if you have a younger child, and parent has been incarcerated for the majority of the child's life. If the mom has a bond with the child, and doing what she is supposed to be doing, she may ask for and receive an extension.
